Popular comedian, Maleke narrowly escapes death

Popular comedian, musician and Edo State President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Maleke Idowu narrowly escaped death on Monday June 27, 2016 in Benin City.

Maleke was reportedly beaten to a pulp and sustained various injuries at hand of thugs and miscreants.
The musician alleged that a bar owner had thrown a party the previous day and threw cash in the air which caused a commotion. So he went back there the following day to speak with them only for the bar owner, Kevin Joshua, to descend on him with thugs, deflate his tyres and rob him of close to $7,000 dollars paid to him for a show abroad.

Kevin Joshua however claims Maleke’s claims are false and a calculated attempt to drag his name in mud, saying he never attacked the comedian. He insists it was Maleke who stormed his bar with thugs to disrupt his business and destroy his bar.
The acting Edo State Police Public relations officer, Stephen Onwochei however confirms that a full scale investigation into the crisis is underway and three persons have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Maleke is currently receiving treatment at an hospital for injuries he sustained during the attack.
